Skoda Kylaq Drives Nearly 40% Of Skoda-VW India Sales In 2025

Kylaq generates nearly 40% of Skoda-VW Group’s record 2025 domestic sales

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India closed calendar year 2025 with its highest domestic sales to date. The group posted around 1,17,000 units in India, marking a year-on-year increase of roughly 36 percent. Including exports, total volumes reached 1,59,500 units. The company also crossed a manufacturing milestone in 2025, producing two million vehicles under its India programme.

Kylaq emerges as the key volume driver

A significant portion of the group’s domestic growth was driven by a single model. Skoda’s sub-4-metre Kylaq recorded over 45,000 units in 2025, making it the largest contributor to group volumes. Skoda’s overall sales crossed 70,000 units during the year, supported heavily by the Kylaq’s performance in the high-volume compact SUV segment.

The Kylaq’s contribution meant that nearly 40 percent of group sales came from one model, underlining the importance of the sub-4-metre SUV category for the conglomerate’s India strategy.

Manufacturing, exports and platform strategy

The group reported that its India-focused MQB-A0-IN platform continues to underpin both domestic and export growth. While 2025 saw strong domestic recovery, cumulative exports have now exceeded 7,15,000 units, with shipments expanding to additional international markets.

Production of two million Made-in-India vehicles was achieved during the year, reinforcing the group’s focus on local manufacturing.

Model mix and market performance

Beyond the Kylaq, SAVWIPL highlighted traction for models across both Skoda and Volkswagen portfolios, including the Virtus, Slavia, Kushaq and Taigun. In the midsize sedan segment, Volkswagen maintained a leading position, with the Virtus holding an estimated 38 percent share.

Limited-run performance models such as the Skoda Octavia RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI were reported to have sold out shortly after launch, indicating demand in niche segments as well.

Distribution and premium brands

The group expanded its combined retail and service network to 700 customer touchpoints nationwide during 2025. In the premium space, Audi added variants across its SUV line-up, Porsche increased its presence to 13 sales points, and Bentley opened outlets in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi. Lamborghini also introduced the Temerario during the year.

Outlook

Management attributed the 2025 performance to consistent execution and an India-focused long-term strategy that combines manufacturing, exports and network expansion. For 2026, the group aims to broaden its product portfolio and widen its customer reach in line with evolving market requirements.
