SsangYong Tivoli Based Crossover & Mahindra MPV Spotted Testing

SsangYong Tivoli based crossover and Mahindra MPV spotted testing at Bangalore-Salem highway.

The crossover will get the X100 platform from SsangYong

The upcoming SsangYong Tivoli based crossover and Mahindra 7-seater MPV were recently spotted undergoing test rounds on the Bangalore-Salem highway by MotorBeam reader Prasoon, who spotted and clicked pictures of the cars.

Mahindra had confirmed that they will not be bringing in the SsangYong Tivoli to India, but a crossover based on the SsangYong Tivoli would be making it to the Indian shores. The crossover will use the platform of the Tivoli. Looking at the test mule, it does look similar to the Tivoli in terms of stance while the tail lights too are similar to the SsangYong Tivoli.

Mahindra has drawn inputs from SsangYong, Pininfarina and as well as its own design division in making this crossover. Mahindra is expected to offer this vehicle with a choice of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The crossover is likely to be launched in India in 2018.

About the MPV spotted, it will be rivalling the Toyota Innova Crysta and Tata Hexa. Codenamed as the Mahindra U321, the MPV spotted was heavily camouflaged. It’s apparent from the spy shots that this car too has followed traditional MPV design approach. The automaker is expected to give this MPV a 1.99-litre diesel engine as well as a higher capacity ‘mFalcon’ petrol engine. Mahindra has already invested Rs. 1500 crores for readying this MPV and it will be launched in late-2017 or early-2018.
