Students Come Up With Rs. 1 Lakh Car, Mileage Claimed At 32 km/l

Students of Bearys Institute of Technology have come up with a new car that is very cheap and also returns very good fuel efficiency.

Currently, the Tata Nano is the cheapest car in India

These days it is becoming increasingly common to see engineering students come up with all types of vehicles developed by them from scratch. The latest example is a 2-seater car that has been designed by students in Mangaluru. This vehicle is powered by a bike engine and has the capacity to seat two people. It also produces a claimed fuel efficiency of 32 km/l. The engine is the same one that powers the Bajaj Pulsar 150 while the car comes with tyres that are used on rickshaws. The prototype of the vehicle has been developed in their college laboratory itself.

The students of Bearys Institute of Technology came up with this project which is aimed at the common man. It will be the cheapest car in the market and the prototype was developed for a cost of Rs. 50,000/-. The car weighs 280 kgs and it can touch a top speed of 80 km/hr. It took the students six days to design and 25 days to complete the entire project. Later on, the students will add more features to the car. The project car will be a good choice for students and other bikers who want a cheap vehicle.

However, there are many such projects which come up but hardly any of these actually hit the production line. We have seen many similar projects that got washed away due to poor funding, lack of infrastructure and non-availability of facilities. The government should study such projects and come up with some initiative that provides proper funding to students and help them make their projects a reality which would be beneficial for the students as well as the country.
