Suzuki Reveals Misano Concept, A Motorcycle-Inspired Electric Roadster

The car has been named after the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Suzuki has revealed the Misano, a concept vehicle inspired by motorcycles, that was developed in collaboration with design students at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Torino, Italy.

The idea behind the concept was to make a vehicle that combines Suzuki’s expertise in building both motorcycles and cars. Measuring 4000 mm long and only 1000 mm tall, the concept is a rather sleek-looking thing.

Upfront, there are S-shaped headlights, a small frontal area, high fender sections and a splitter, while the windscreen is rather small and wide enough only to cover one individual.

It is not a mistake, rather a conscious decision made by designers, because, like on a motorcycle, occupants sit in tandem in the Suzuki Misano concept.

When looked at from the sides, the concept’s McLaren Senna-esque doors give it a touch more flair and so does the roll hoop, while the large wheels sit right at the corners.

A large diffuser dominates the rear profile of the concept where numerous edges and creases make way for the tail lights and there is even a lip spoiler.

Throughout the car, Suzuki has used copper accents which can be seen on the wheels, headlight area, front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, roll hoop and tail light section.

In this day and age, it would have been a surprise if the Suzuki Misano concept was not conceived as an electric vehicle. The space next to the occupants holds the battery pack and there is even room for some luggage.

Instead of a steering wheel, IED and Suzuki have given the vehicle a control stick emulating the handlebar of the motorcycle and, a head-up display provides all the necessary information to the driver.

Sadly, this is just a design study and Suzuki has no intention of putting it into production. Still, a small 2-seat roadster with regular seating inspired by this concept would not make for a bad-looking car at all.
