Suzuki To Update Access, Swish, Slingshot, GS150R In 2014

Suzuki Motorcycle India will update four models from its range of motorcycles and scooters with upgrades to the mechanicals and the design that will be launched within this calendar year. The company only yesterday launched its mass market offering the Let’s 110cc automatic scooter in the country that will compete against the Honda Activa-i, TVS Wego, Hero Pleasure and the likes in the segment. The models to be updated in question are the Access and Swish scooters as well as the Slingshot and GS150R motorcycles.

After introducing the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) fuel saving technology on the Let’s scooter, Suzuki will extend the same on other models as well. The SEP technology improves the combustion cycle within the engine while minimising mechanical loss, which results in efficient burning of fuel leading to improved mileage. The Access and Swish 125cc scooters will get new updates to compete against the Honda Activa 125. Both the models are powered by a 125cc engine that produces 8.58 HP of power and 9.8 Nm of torque.

The Suzuki Slingshot on the other hand is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder motor that produces 8.8 PS of power. The Slingshot competes against the Honda Shine, TVS Phoenix and a range of commuter motorcycles in the segment. The underrated Suzuki GS150R will also see upgrades and is powered by a 149cc engine that belts out 13.8 HP of power and 13.4 Nm of torque.

Apart from the current line-up, Suzuki is all set to launch the Gixxer 155 motorcycle that was showcased alongside the Let’s scooter in January this year and will be the second model to get the SEP technology. The Gixxer will compete in the premium end of the 150cc motorcycle segment against the Honda CB Trigger and the Yamaha FZ in the segment. The motorcycle is scheduled for a July launch. Suzuki aims to increase its sales from 3.70 lakh units in the last fiscal, to 5 lakh units in 2014-15.
