The Tata Kite 5 production version has been spied uncovered ahead of the vehicle’s launch.

The sub-4 metre length of the Kite 5 is clearly visible on the side profile

The Tata Kite 5 which is a compact sedan based on the Tiago has been spotted on testing rounds a number of times. The compact sedan has generated a lot of buzz and people are eagerly awaiting its launch which is likely to happen in the first quarter of 2017. Production of the initial batch of the Kite 5 has now started at Tata Motors’ plant.

The Tata Kite 5 will share its engines with the Tiago. The petrol and diesel engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission but the automaker will also start offering an AMT gearbox on the diesel trim. The diesel engine might get a small increase in power output. Apart from that, the Kite 5 will get some new features like automatic climate control and projector lamps.

On the outside, the Kite 5 looks similar to what was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The alloy wheels have a sporty design and Tata will also offer a couple of new colours on the vehicle. It is said that around 50 units of the car have been manufactured till date. The Tata Kite 5 will compete with the Ford Figo Aspire, Maruti Swift DZire and Hyundai Xcent. We can expect Tata to price the car very competitively.
