Tata Motors Sales 2019 – Petrol vs Diesel Comparison

Tata Motors has sold more petrol cars than diesel in 2019.

We all are aware of the fact that petrol powered cars are trending these days. Very few people are preferring diesel cars nowadays. Same is the case with Tata Motors in 2019.

The Indian carmaker sold more petrol cars than diesel last year with 65.1 percent share of petrol cars. They sold a total of 1,52,944 cars in 2019 out of which 99,542 were petrol, 54,361 were diesel and 41 were electric (Tigor EV).

The top seller for the company in 2019 was the Tiago hatchback with 63,216 units, out of which 92 percent were petrol variants. The second position was taken by the Nexon with 49,312 units and 61 percent of these were petrol.

The third spot was taken by the Harrier with 15,527 units, it is only offered in diesel. The Tigor scored 13,112 with 86 percent petrol. Now these top 4 cars will continue to be on sale in 2020 but the rest are now discontinued.

Also, Tata Motors has updated the top 4 cars for MY2020 with BS6 engines and cosmetic changes along with new features. So we can expect better numbers in 2020.

The Zest managed 5450 units with 92 percent diesel sales. Hexa had only diesel with 2917 units. The popular Safari Storme managed to score 2432 units in it last year of production. Sumo saw 941 units. The Bolt scored 337 with 93 percent diesel sales and finally the Nano with a single unit sold in 2019.
