Tata Tiago Turbo Petrol Spotted While On Test

The car on test sports the same design language as the updated Tiago

The Tata Tiago turbo petrol has been spotted testing on Indian roads only days after we reported about the manufacturer testing the Altroz turbo petrol variant in our country.

Reportedly being tested by Bosch engineers, the car was spotted at Kropex Dairy Circle in Bengaluru and further, the Tiago turbo petrol test mule had a manual gearbox in it.

The spied car also has the same looks as the updated Tiago, but if it is indeed a sporty model, expect Tata to give the model notable visual differences, in comparison with the regular variants of the hatchback.

This will not be the first time that the Tata Tiago will be offered with a turbo petrol powerplant, for, it already had a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit that produced 112 PS of max power and 150 Nm peak torque under its bonnet in the discontinued JTP variant.

It was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and did the 0-100 km/hr sprint in under 10 seconds, while also sporting a lowered ride height, differently tuned suspension setup and wider wheels.

Whether the engine will produce the same power figures or the (reported) reduced power figures to match that of the Altroz turbo petrol that is due for launch is to be seen.

Definitive launch date of the Tata Tiago turbo petrol is currently not known, but it might be launched after the Altroz turbo petrol gets introduced or Tata might drop a bombshell and bring two cars at once. Exciting times indeed.

The JTP variants packed a punch and were on the affordable side as well
