Tata Tigor Is Name For Tiago Based Compact Sedan

Tata Tigor is the official name for the Tiago based sedan which was codenamed Kite 5.

The Tata Tigor is based on the Tata Tiago

The Tata Tigor is the name of the Tiago based compact sedan, the Indian automaker has just announced. This car was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo as the Kite 5 Concept. Tata Motors calls the Tigor a Styleback which would be a game changer in the segment. The launch of the Tata Tigor is in March 2017, it has been delayed as the company wanted to clear backlog of Tiago deliveries which has received a stupendous response from the market, selling 5399 units last month.

The Tata Tigor will carry forward the same engines as the Tiago. The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine produces 85 BHP of power while the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel unit belts out 70 BHP, both the powerplants come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The automaker might also launch the AMT version of the vehicle but it might not be available initially.

The Tata Tigor is the automaker’s next offering with the Impact design language, the first being the Tata Tiago. The vehicle has been spotted many times undergoing testing. The Tigor gets a best-in-class 420-litre boot. When launched, this compact sedan will compete against the Maruti Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo. Prices are expected to be very competitive.
