Tata Xpres Petrol & CNG Launched For Fleet Market

Tata launches petrol and CNG Xpres sedan aimed at fleet operators

Tata Motors has introduced new petrol and CNG versions of the Xpres sedan for the fleet market. The models are priced at Rs. 5.59 lakhs and Rs. 6.59 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively. The sedan is based on the Tigor and serves as the internal combustion counterpart to the Xpres-T EV that is already on sale for commercial buyers.

Bookings for both variants are open. Tata offers a standard warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km which can be extended to five years or 1,80,000 km. The company also plans to support the fleet-focused product via select dealerships in major cities.

Power for the petrol model comes from a 1.2-litre engine that produces 86 HP and 113 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The CNG version uses the same engine with a factory CNG kit. Output figures for the CNG variant have not been disclosed. The petrol model offers 419 litres of boot space while the CNG model uses twin cylinders with 70 litres water capacity to reduce the loss of luggage space.

The Xpres shares several elements with the Xpres-T EV including 14-inch steel wheels although the new ICE model receives black wheel covers and a dual-tone cabin instead of an all-black interior. The equipment list is basic with features such as an audio system, infotainment display and vehicle tracking missing from the factory specification. Tata says these can be retrofitted depending on fleet requirements. Rear AC vents and Type-C charging ports are also not included.

By offering the Xpres in petrol and CNG form Tata joins other manufacturers such as Hyundai, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki who also sell models dedicated to fleet buyers.
