Tata Zest Starts Rolling Out From Factory Ahead Of Launch

The Tata Zest and Bolt are the most important products for the company as of now. While the Zest has already been showcased by the company and reviewed by us, the Bolt should follow soon. Tata Motors has been facing a tough time with passenger car sales owing mainly due to reasons such as average quality of fit and finish, lack of refinement, unsatisfactory after-sales experience and much more. Tata is keeping its hopes high and betting heavily on the success of these new products which address all the above issues.

Production of the Tata Zest sedan has already begun and the first batch of cars are rolling out from the company’s Ranjangaon facility. The first ever production Zest has been decorated with a garland while the surroundings are also decorated with flowers. This is the same production plant where the Indigo Manza is being produced. The Zest is available with a choice of two engines – the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit and the 1.3-litre Quadrajet oil-burner which also powers many other vehicles. Both these engines produce a similar power output of 89 BHP.

Rivals like Honda and Mahindra have overtaken Tata Motors since quite some time. While Tata is working hard to improve its image through the HORIZONEXT programme, it is also making sure that its latest products not only conform to expected standards of quality but also come with first-in-class features. While the petrol Zest gets switchable driving modes, the diesel version of the Zest will be the first diesel automatic vehicle in this segment making it the cheapest diesel AT in India. The Tata Zest will be launched in August and it will be priced between Rs. 6-9 lakhs (ex-showroom), competing with the Maruti DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
