The Valley Run 2015, a highly awaited auto event in India happened to be on the 10th and 11th of January, 2015. The third time had huge expectations but they weren’t met. The Valley Run 2015 didn’t seem to have much sponsors this time but the number of participants crossing the 400 count was just enough. Elite Octane and Swiss Eagle happened to be the main sponsors for the Valley Run 2015. The two day event was running on a very tight schedule and to manage the number of participants was really a heck of a job for the organisers.

The highlight of the event was the turbocharged Kawasaki ZX-14R clocking 9.843 secs on the quarter mile, just about 0.2 secs slower than the last time record of Ricky Gadson (10 times world drag racing champion) and the 1.7-tonne Nissan GTR clocking an impressive 11.286 secs. With 100 supercars and 150 superbikes, the event was flooded was extreme mean machines. Heavily modded 2-stroke and 4-stroke bikes were a good sight too. Weight reduction and tuning to get the maximum power to the wheel was the only moto.

The schedule with of the first day got delayed quite a lot and hence just all the motorcycle categories from M1 to M7 were completed. The Indian cars were pushed to the next day. The scrutiny started at 9.00 AM and the lineup just became a mess, all the bikers rushed to get their bike scrutinised while the bouncers and the security personnels managed the crowd.

It was this time we felt that the arrangements for seating was very less, even the pit size was small. With so many participants and a hell lot of spectators, the air strip was filled and there was no place to sit. The pits was just of three tent size and that became crowded as well. The food at the Valley Run was a very costly affair too.

A practice run and then the main run. Every participant had to complete the practice run to be eligible for the main race. A jumpstart was a disqualification but to make another run, a penalty fine had to be paid. The modification of the bikes and cars were to the limit that only the vehicle is rideable or drivable, reducing weight and stripping down almost everything and then competing was the gameplay.

The speed timings were recorded using a Professional Race America WiFi timing equipment (imported and the only one in India). The speed timings were so accurate as the drag races work on the principal of seconds and even microseconds. The quickest one to complete the 402-meter drag wins.

Along with the drag races, special event like the fastest wheelie was eye-gazing. Popping a quarter-mile wheelie and completing the 402-meters on just one wheel is one awesome thing. Drag races, wheelies, supercars, superbikes, the exterme level of modification and putting down ones art into a machine and getting everything possible out of it isn’t a daily affair. These numbers and stuff just are seen at some events and the Valley Run 2015 rocked it with the enthusiasm and excitement it offered but should have been better organised.
