April 2026 top 25 car sales list revealed, Maruti Dzire tops the chart. There are 11 Maruti cars in this list, followed by 5 cars from Mahindra, 3 cars from Hyundai and 2 from Toyota, Tata Motors and Kia each.

India’s passenger vehicle market opened FY2027 with strong momentum in April 2026, as multiple manufacturers reported robust monthly volumes. The sales mix reflected a broad spread across body styles, with SUVs continuing to gain traction, while hatchbacks, sedans and MPVs maintained steady demand in their respective segments.

At the top of the charts, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire led overall sales with 23,580 units, registering notable year-on-year growth. Close behind was the Tata Punch, which sustained its strong market performance to secure the second position. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga continued to perform consistently, reaffirming its position among the highest-selling MPVs in the country.

The Dzire’s continued success highlights the sustained relevance of compact sedans in India, supported by factors such as fuel efficiency, widespread service reach and strong demand from fleet operators. Despite the growing dominance of SUVs, this segment continues to find steady buyers.

The Punch remained one of the fastest-growing models in the market, with a significant year-on-year increase in volumes. Its positioning as an affordable SUV alternative appears to be resonating well with urban and semi-urban buyers.

Maruti Suzuki maintained a commanding presence, contributing 11 models to the top 25 list. Its portfolio spans multiple segments, including entry-level hatchbacks like the Alto and Wagon R, as well as SUVs such as the Maruti Fronx and Grand Vitara. The company also recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic sales during this period.

In contrast, the Hyundai Creta, while still leading its segment, reported a decline in sales compared to the previous year. Increased competition in the midsize SUV category appears to be influencing its performance, with pricing strategies such as discounts being used to maintain volumes.

Kia India posted strong numbers, with both the Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet crossing the 10,000-unit mark. The Seltos, in particular, recorded substantial year-on-year growth, while the Sonet also showed steady improvement, indicating sustained demand in both compact and midsize SUV segments.

Overall, April 2026 sales underline a competitive and evolving market landscape, where SUVs continue to grow in popularity, yet traditional segments such as hatchbacks and sedans remain relevant.

Out of 25 cars in the list, only five cars witnessed negative year-on-year growth. What are your thoughts on the top 25 selling cars of April 2026. Let us know in the comments section below.
