Datsun’s GO+ did not find any takers in May

In May 2021, unlike before, the car that led UV sales was the Bolero from Mahindra.

While the Maruti Eeco was expected to lead the May 2021 UV sales chart, Mahindra’s workhorse registered sales of 3517 units to take the top spot in May.

Trio Of Marutis In The Mix

Second-placed Maruti Ertiga could only find 2694 buyers, while the Eeco, also from Maruti, witnessed 1096 unit sales last month.

The XL6, which is based on the Ertiga, registered sales of 782 units this past month. Following it was the Triber (524) from Renault which recently did well in the Global NCAP crash tests.

No Field Day For Innova

Then comes the Kia Carnival in May 2021 UV sales with 146 unit sales, followed by the Mahindra Marazzo that recorded sales of 60 units.

Even the very popular Toyota Innova Crysta could not escape the dire situation, for it only found 20 new buyers in the month of May, as opposed to 3600 in April.

Sadly, none of the UVs could registered month-on-month (MoM) growth in May. While the Eeco lost 90 percent of its sales between April and May 2021, the Innova Crysta’s sales degrew by 99 percent.

Overall, total sales of the utility vehicles in the month of May in 2021 stood at 8840 units which is a 75 percent MoM degrowth.
