Toyota Corolla Cross to launch in India with a 3-row layout

Toyota Corolla Cross is currently being evaluated for India launch. The Japanese carmaker showcased the SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo.

Toyota is likely to introduce a larger version of the Corolla Cross in India. They might increase the wheelbase by 150 mm to add third row space and extra legroom. This will compete with the Hyundai Alcazar, Jeep Meridien and the likes.

It will be based on the Toyota Innova HyCross platform and share most of the mechanicals and powertrain with the MPV. The Japanese carmaker will make some tweaks to the C and D pillars for the longer version and offer a longer rear door for easy third row ingress.

To differentiate the 3-row SUV with the regular Corolla Cross, Toyota might make some styling tweaks and change the soft parts. They might also give it a new name for the Indian market.

We can expect it to come with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine sharing tech with the HyCross. We don’t expect a diesel engine option with this vehicle.
