Toyota Launches Updated New Etios & Etios Liva

Toyota has launched the facelifted Etios and Etios Liva in India, at the final match of the Toyota University Cricket Championship in Delhi. The Japanese automaker has chosen to call the updated vehicles as all new, which they aren’t as the company has only incorporated minor changes based on customer feedback. Toyota has also launched the Etios Liva TRD with a more powerful engine, from the Etios sedan. The company has also introduced new variants for both these vehicles.

Toyota had launched the Etios Liva TRD Sportivo as a limited edition model. However the company has now made the TRD Sportivo as a regular variant. This sports variant drops the 1.2-litre engine and is now powered by the bigger 1.5-litre petrol engine which produces 90 PS of power. The Toyota Etios Liva TRD Sportivo also gets smoked alloy wheels, TRD body kit, TRD Sportivo logos on the seats and roof. It remains to be seen how popular this variant gets considering the Polo 1.6 and Fabia 1.6 were discontinued due to poor demand. The 1.5-litre Etios Liva won’t get excise duty benefits as it is not classified as a small car due to its engine capacity being more than 1.2-litres.

2013 Toyota Etios Changes

  1. Re-designed grille with chrome finish
  2. New tail lamps
  3. Indicators on rear view mirrors
  4. Addition of classic grey colour
  5. Two tone interiors (ash brown colour)
  6. 2-Din audio with USB, Aux, Bluetooth and remote
  7. Seats with adjustable head rests
  8. Height adjust for driver’s seat
  9. Blue illumination on combimeter
  10. Clean air filters for AC

Toyota has improved the NVH levels on the Etios twins, thanks to the use of hydraulic mounts and better sound insulation. The company has given the complete Etios range 15-inch wheels, while the Liva’s V and TRD variants get 15-inch wheels (rest get 14-inch wheels). One touch driver side power window has been added as well.

The company will concentrate on the Etios siblings and has no plans to launch any new product till 2015. The next generation Etios twins are due in 2015 and are expected to have the instrument cluster in front of the driver, rather than on the centre console. Toyota has 220 dealerships and plans to open 15 more in the near future.
