Rebadged Maruti Ertiga Is Toyota Rumion In South Africa

Even the wheels are identical

The Toyota Rumion comes with a different grille and interior upholstery when compared with the Maruti Ertiga

Here we have the Toyota Rumion, the carbon copy of the very popular (in India) Maruti Ertiga, that has been introduced in South Africa today.

With an identical length of 4395 mm and wheelbase of 2740 mm, the MPV has all but the same design, save for the different front grille (the design of which we’ve already shared, see here) and badges.

No changes have been made to the interior layout

Offered in colour choices such as Autumn Blaze Red, Azure Blue, Mystic Pearl White, Seal Grey Metallic, and Shadow Black Pearl, the car pretty much has the same interior as the Ertiga.

However, Toyota has decided to chuck the beige interior offered in the Maruti model in favour of an all-black interior with black and grey fabric seats.

Offered in S, SX and TX grades, (only the SX and TX variants can be had with an automatic gearbox), the Toyota Rumion comes with halogen headlights, LED tail lamps and 15-inch alloys on the outside.

It is a 7-seat model, like the Ertiga

Inside, it features auto air-con, 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 6 speakers, reversing camera, faux wood trim on dash, leather cover for steering wheel and smart entry.

All these features are offered only in the top variant. The base variant lives up to its name and is rather spartan. However, as standard, the car does come with safety kit like dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and ISOFIX mounts.

It has a ground clearance of 180 mm

Powering the car that weighs between 1130 and 1160 kg is a 1.5-litre petrol motor good for 103 BHP and 138 Nm. It is teamed to a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed auto.

Priced between R245,600 (Rs. 12.38 lakhs) and R317,200 (Rs. 15.98 lakhs) in South Africa, the Toyota Rumion comes with a 3 years or 1 lakh kilometre warranty.

The same model could well be introduced soon in India
