Cons: Dated Design, Stiff Suspension

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Variants

The TVS Scooty Pep Plus is available in two variants, each variant differs from the other in a few visual aspects. The variants are:

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Design

The Scooty Pep Plus is effeminate in design- it’s small, nimble, and looks sharp. At the front, we have a well-sculpted area consisting of the body-integrated turn indicators, LED DRL, and the circular headlamp. Interestingly enough, the Scooty Pep Plus borrows a lot of its design elements from the TVS Zest 110, rendering them both highly similar.

The side panels complement the design language brilliantly with the chromed-out exhaust shield. Concluding the rear are the stylish pillion grab-rails, flowing tail lamps and turn indicators. The Matte Series, however, gets additional stickering decals along the length of the front and side panels and a textured seat cover that looks quite attractive.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Features

The Scooty Pep Plus gets a fully analogue instrument cluster with an additional stand alarm feature. For additional convenience, the Scooty Pep Plus comes with a mobile charger socket, side stand alarm, under-seat storage hooks, DRLs, and an open front glove box. What sets this scooter apart is TVS’s patented ‘Eazy’ Stand technology, which reduces the effort required to put the vehicle on the centre stand by 30 per cent. On the mechanical side, the Scooty Pep Plus comes with a
87.8cc, fuel-injected engine mated to an automatic CVT transmission.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Engine Performance

The TVS Scooty Pep Plus is powered by an 87.8 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injection engine producing 5.3 BHP at 6500 RPM and 6.5 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM. Cruising at the speed of 50-60km/h is a breeze on this scooter with the top speed at around 70-80km/h. For commuting duties, these numbers are ample. The introduction of fuel injection in the BS6 offering has further improved the refinement and versatility of the engine.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Mileage (or Fuel Efficiency)

The Scooty Pep Plus has impressive fuel efficiency figures of around 45-50 km/l under economic riding conditions. In hectic city traffic, the number may fall down to around 40-45 km/l. The 4.2-litre fuel tank offers a riding range of about 220-240 km.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Handling (or Dynamics)

Being an extremely light scooter, the Scooty Pep Plus handles with great poise and ease, all variants of the Scooty Pep Plus are equipped with the same telescopic suspension at the front and coil spring with hydraulic dampers at the rear, the latter, however, does not offer the best ride quality over bad roads. Apart from this drawback, the high-rigid underbone chassis and the kerb weight of 93 kgs complement the easy riding dynamics.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Comfort (or Ergonomics)

The Scooty Pep Plus has always been a comfortable scooter since its initial launch with an upright posture and a spacious footboard. At 768 mm, the seat is wide and soft- accommodating both the rider and the pillion. Both, short and tall riders will find themselves comfortable on this peppy commuter.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus Safety (or Brakes)

Both variants of the Scooty Pep Plus are equipped with 110 mm drum brakes at the front and the rear. While the brakes could have been better, the inclusion of SBT (Synchronisided Braking Technology) makes braking easier.

They offer a wide range of authorised service centres and showrooms across the country where people can buy their motorcycles and get them promptly serviced, at an affordable cost. Motorcycle and scooter spares are also quite easily available. The service interval for this particular scooter is around 3000 – 4000 km costing you anywhere between Rs. 500/- to Rs. 1000/-.
