UM To Launch Dirt Bikes, Scooters & Motorcycles With FI, ABS

2016 UM Renegade Sport Dual Tone

UM Motorcycles is all set to deliver the Renegade by October 2016. The company plans to launch a slew of new products including dirt bikes, scooters and motorcycles equipped with FI and ABS tech.

We all have seen the charm of UM Motorcycles at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company had launched the Renegade in three avatars at the biennial event. The company has received 3000 bookings since launch but hasn’t started sales. These retro-classic cruisers will be delivered to their owners by August, but the CEO and director Rajiv Mishra assured that the deliveries of the bikes will commence by October this year.

UM Motorcycles has confirmed that more bikes are set to come to the Indian market. The UM Renegade Classic will get more chrome and ABS next year, the latter is to meet the new safety norms. The Classic will also get fuel-injection for the 280cc engine. This motorcycle is targeted to compete with Royal Enfield.

The manufacturer is planning to launch a cruiser bike pitted against the Bajaj Avenger 220. UM is planning to launch their next model Commando and Sport S with a 223cc engine platform which churns out 20 BHP of power. According to Rajiv Mishra, the rice of the motorbike will be lower than Rs. 1 lakh. Also, they will launch a bike with a 400cc engine priced under Rs. 2 lakhs next year. It could sport a twin-cylinder engine.

For the next two years, UM Motorcycles is planning to launch cruiser bikes only but in 2018, they will launch dual-purpose bikes, offering 21-inch spoke wheels and upside down forks, yes they will launch dirt bikes. UM Motorcycles has the facility of manufacturing at Uttarakhand with a capacity of 50,000 units a year.
