VinFast VF6 Gets 5 Star Bharat NCAP Crash Test Safety Rating

VinFast VF6 earns 5-star BNCAP rating with strong performance & minor concerns

The Vinfast VF6 electric midsize SUV has received a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants in the latest Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash tests. While the model performed strongly in most categories, the assessment highlighted an area of concern regarding driver chest protection in a frontal collision.

During the tests, the VF6 scored 27.13 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 44.91 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the SUV offered good protection for the head, neck and pelvic regions of both front occupants. Driver chest protection was rated weak and knee protection was assessed from marginal to adequate for both driver and passenger. The VF6 performed notably better in side impact evaluations where it secured a full 16 out of 16 points in the side movable barrier test and received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.

Child occupant protection was also rated highly. The VF6 scored full points in the dynamic and CRS installation tests and 10 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. The child dummies used in the evaluation were seated in rearward-facing child seats connected through ISOFIX anchorages on the rear outboard seats. The only noted omission was the lack of an integrated child restraint system.

In terms of equipment, all VF6 variants come standard with seven airbags including a driver knee airbag, electronic stability control, seatbelt reminders for all passengers and ISOFIX mounts on the rear outboard seats. The SUV is also compliant with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms. The 5-star safety rating applies across the Earth, Wind and Sky trim levels. The model was tested in November 2025 while the results were released in January 2026.
