The Fazer 2.0 gets updated with the new 149cc fuel injected engine from the FZ

Yamaha India has officially launched the Fazer FI 2.0 in India, priced at Rs. 83,850/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). Based on the FZ street-fighter motorcycle, the Fazer is the successful touring derivative of the same and version 2.0 just happens to get much more stylish and sharper than the old model. Much like the FZ FI 2.0 launched earlier this year, Yamaha will also continue to sell the carbureted version of the Fazer priced marginally lower than the new fuel injected model.

On the outset, the Yamaha Fazer FI 2.0 gets several changes including a restyled half fairing that offers a much sharper look while retaining the overall silhouette. The design is similar to the outgoing model but looks more modern and appealing. The new chassis comes from the FZ 2.0, which is lighter and more agile than the outgoing model. There is also the inclusion of the new seat and grab bar that have been designed to offer added comfort to the rider. Yamaha has also included the new tablet-like instrument cluster that debuted on the FZ and gets a new ECO indicator for a pocket friendly ride.

Powering the Fazer FI 2.0 is the updated 149cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single-cylinder engine with fuel injection technology that produces 13.1 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. With the engine mounted on the new light weight body, Yamaha states that the new Fazer is more powerful and power packed than the old version. The bike also gets the company’s new Blue Core technology which has improved the bike’s overall acceleration, fuel efficiency and carbon emissions. Yamaha claims a 14 percent improvement in fuel economy.

The Fazer FI 2.0 continues to get telescopic front forks and a monoshock suspension set-up at the rear, however, Yamaha says that the suspension setting has been improved for added comfort. Stopping power comes from a front disc brake and a rear drum set-up, just like before. The bike also gets new compound tyres from the FZ 2.0 that offer better traction levels and improved handling stability. Yamaha is offering the new Fazer in a total of three shades namely red dawn, black hawk and white cloud, with sales commencing right away. The company is targeting the 18-30 age group who want a stylish tourer with good mileage.
