Jaguar Unveils Ultra-Dynamic XKR-S GT

Jaguar has unveiled the 2013 Jaguar XKR-S GT. The XKR-S was introduced to the class XK of Jaguar in 2012. The Grand-Tourer version of the same XKR-S will be a limited edition exclusively for the North American market. This adds yet another model to the high dynamic driving performance Jaguar R brand. The GT version will sport a racing-style bodykit with a carbon-fibre rear wing, rear-diffuser, upgraded height adjustable dampers making for stiffer suspension. The construction will follow a high strength all-aluminium body structure, typical to the XK models.

Power to the Jaguar XKR-S GT will be from the same engine powering the sibling XKR-S. It is a 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 engine which produces a maximum power of 542 BHP. The XKR-S does a 0-100 km/hr run in 4.2 seconds, but the added racing dynamics and reduced weight because of the racing-inspired construction techniques allow the GT version to do the same in just 3.9 seconds. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Improving the aerodynamics are the carbon-fibre front splitter, the winglets and wheel arch extensions.

The GT is also the first Jaguar to be fitted with reduced weight carbon ceramic brakes which alone help reduce a good 21 kgs from the total weight of the vehicle. The wheels are XKR-S GT exclusive 20-inch alloys with Pirelli Corsa tyres. As mentioned before about it being a limited edition car, only 30 such units of this ultimate track-ready and street legal Jaguar will be manufactured for sale only in the North American continent. The Jaguar XJR sports sedan is another premiere from Jaguar’s R brand at the 2013 New York Auto Show celebrating 25 years of the performance brand.
