2014 Hyundai Verna Facelift Production Begins In China

Hyundai has commenced production of the facelifted Verna in China. No, don’t get confused with the 2014 model year Verna update released in India recently. The Chinese version of the Hyundai Verna already had a slightly different face, which has now got a prominent update and is expected to hit Indian roads in the second half of the year. The new Hyundai Verna will make its global debut at the upcoming 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April. Production for the new offering has begun in China but the launch will happen sometime in April only.

The fluidic design language is carried over but in a calmer tone. The Verna facelift doesn’t have those swoopy creases that makes it look bulbous, instead it gets a sharp profile with a mature appearance now. The front end gets more pronounced changes compared to the rear. There is a new angular headlamp cluster with revised LED detailing and projector lamps. The hexagonal theme up front gets replaced with a V pattern, thanks to the new two slat chrome grille and redesigned bumpers integrating boomerang shaped fog lights.

The side profile of the updated Verna remains untouched, save for the new alloy wheels and simple ORVMs. The rear only gets a new bumper with restyled reflectors and LED detailing on the tail lamps. Powering the Verna in China are two petrol engine options – 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre. If Hyundai considers launching the new Verna in India, it would carry the same diesel and petrol engine options. Expect slight changes on the interiors but full details will be revealed as the global debut of the 2014 Verna comes closer.
