2014 Hyundai Verna Facelift Spotted In China

Hyundai launched the fluidic Verna in 2011 and gave it a minor update very recently. The car is a runaway success since it packs good equipment levels, great looks and a decent performance at a good price. Hyundai had deleted a few goodies from the Verna recently when it got an update and added a couple of new features. Now a new facelift version of the Verna has been spotted in China and could be launched in India later this year.

Looking at the pictures, it is pretty easy to make out the changes at the front of the vehicle. The facelifted Hyundai Verna features a redesigned front bumper, new front grille, new radiator grille and new headlights with projectors. The fog lamps are also enclosed in a new casing and overall the front looks sporty (not that it wasn’t earlier).

Coming to the rear, the bumper would be very slightly redesigned with the bottom part blacked out to give it the look of a diffuser. The tail lights are also slightly redesigned with changes being made to the turn indicators. The reflectors on the rear bumper are also of a new design. The tail lights will have LEDs instead of the conventional bulbs. Some other changes would be new alloy wheels, optional sunroof and turn-indicators on the ORVMs. The interiors will remain largely unchanged.

A facelift of the hatchback version of the Hyundai Verna was also spotted but it is unlikely that the company will launch it in India since the i20 already occupies the premium hatchback slot. There won’t be any mechanical changes to the Verna and it will still be powered by the same 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines mated to 4-speed AT, 5-speed MT and 6-speed MT gearbox.

It is clear that Hyundai will be facing the heat from the new Honda City and hence the company will make changes to the Verna to make it more appealing to buyers. There will be a marginal hike in the prices of the facelift 2014 Hyundai Verna. The current Hyundai Verna is priced from Rs. 7.40 – 11.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
