Upcoming Mahindra Scorpio Facelift Spied

We are well aware that Mahindra will not introduce all-new models until 2016. For the time being, the country’s largest utility vehicle maker has promised to launch refreshed versions and facelifts of the current lineup. Recently our friends at Team-BHP have spotted a facelifted Scorpio partly camouflaged at the front and rear, where the changes are expected to happen. The Mahindra Scorpio was launched in 2002 and since then it has been treated with new mechanical upgrades and facelifts until 2009, when the last update happened.

Since four years the Mahindra Scorpio has remain untouched, reason being segment leading sales. The Scorpio has now lost its position to the Renault Duster and continues to show dwindling sales because of the rising competition, which includes Ford EcoSport and upcoming Nissan Terrano. The next generation Scorpio will arrive only after the year 2016 and to push the current sales, Mahindra is readying up a facelift. From the looks of the snapshots, the front fascia will get a revised bonnet, bumper and headlights. The side profile remains unchanged apart from a new set of alloy wheels.

At the rear, the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio is expected to get a redesigned tail gate and minor cosmetic changes on the tail lamps. The interiors are also said to be revised with a new look on the dashboard and additional features. Engine options will remain the same as the existing model which includes, 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that produces 120 BHP with 290 Nm, a 2.5-litre m2DiCR turbo diesel motor that churns out 75 BHP with 220 Nm and a 2.6-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 115 BHP with 280 Nm. All engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 2.2-litre mHawk has an option of a 6-speed automatic transmission.
