Having stopped the assembly of the Countryman in India just a few weeks ago, BMW has officially launched the 2015 MINI Countryman in the country priced at Rs. 36.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model though is being brought in via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route in India as the predecessor saw limited sales. For the 2015 model year, the Countryman sports a host of changes to the aesthetics for a fresh appeal in addition to the updates inside the cabin. A Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) as BMW calls it, the Countryman will continue to be available only with a diesel heart.

Starting with the changes, the 2015 MINI Countryman gets a revised front fascia featuring a contoured bonnet, redesigned hexagonal grille and larger xenon headlights with LED foglights. While the overall silhouette is the same as the outgoing model, the updated version gets striking wheel arches that accommodate the 17-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, the 2015 MINI Countryman gets increased ground clearance and shorter overhangs. Maintaining the curvy theme, the rear gets vertical LED tail lights, a muscular tailgate adding width to the design and twin exhausts boasting a sporty touch.

Inside the cabin, the 2015 MINI Countryman gets raised seating position for optimized driver’s view and height adjustable leather-upholstered sports seats; while the dashboard continues with its circular design language. The automaker is offering a host of new interiors colours, trim elements and upholstery options for customers to choose from. You also get a multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel, 6.5-inch infotainment display unit, Radio MINI Boost CD that is complimented by a 640 watt Hi-Fi Harman Kardon music system with 10 speakers. You also have the option of adding a panoramic sunroof.

Coming to the powertrain, the 2015 MINI Countryman uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 112 HP of power and 270 Nm of torque between 1750-2250 RPM, paired to a 6-speed automatic Steptronic transmission. There are a host of electronic aids including automatic start/stop function, brake energy regeneration while the Intelligent Lightweight Construction makes for a 50:50 weight distribution. Safety tech is in abundance as well with 6 airbags, 3-point seat belts, Dynamic Stability Control including Dynamic Traction Control, ABS, Brake Assist and Run-flat indicator.

BMW is offering the MINI Countryman in two non-metallic colours and nine metallic colours and will be retailing the vehicle through its four exclusive dealerships, namely Bird Automotive (Delhi), Infinity Cars (Mumbai), Navnit Motors (Bangalore) and KUN Exclusive (Hyderabad).
