2016 Hyundai Tucson Revealed In Sketches, Debut In March

The next generation Hyundai Tucson will be making its global premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show with power coming from new turbocharged engines.

Hyundai will be going back to the Tucson nameplate changing the current ix35 moniker

Hyundai has revealed the first sketch of the next-generation 2016 Tucson SUV ahead of its world premiere scheduled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show set to commence on 3rd March. With the new generation model, Hyundai will be bringing back the ‘Tucson’ nameplate on the SUV to Europe since the current generation model uses the ‘ix35’ moniker instead. Revealed from the sketch and previous spy shots, the new Tucson will get bolder in appearance with a sharp new design language.

Featuring an evolving design theme, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson gets a bold upright hexagonal grille induced with chrome with a sharper appeal coupled with flowing lines and large proportions. The side profile features accentuated wheel arches, strong character lines and a receding roofline that comes together to offer a sleek profile. An important product for the South Korean automaker, Hyundai states that the new Tucson will be a big step forward for the brand globally.

Coming to the powertrain, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will draw power from new turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options paired to manual as well as the new Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) options. While Hyundai did sell the Tuscon in India back in the early 2000s, the manufacturer will not be bringing the new generation model to India. The company retails the Santa Fe in the same space instead that replaced the Tuscon in the country back in 2010.

Internationally, the new generation Hyundai Tucson will be competing against the upcoming Renault Kadjar that is also set to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Nissan Qashqai, Honda CR-V and the likes in the segment. Complete details will be available on 3rd March while the SUV will go on sale across Europe soon after its global premiere.
