In a bid to revive the sales and transform their image, Tata Motors is on a product offensive following their HORIZONEXT strategy. The Indian automaker promises to launch completely new products every year aiming to be present in all the segments of passenger cars. After the successful launch of the Tata Zest compact sedan and Bolt hatchback, they are ready to attack the market again with new cars positioned under the Zest and Bolt. We have been following the development of the upcoming Tata Kite hatchback and sedan keenly and now it seems the launch isn’t too far.

The Tata Kite hatchback has been spied testing in its production avatar but with camouflage. However, the design is clearly visible which looks attractive and well proportioned. The front gets a sleek grille in continuity of a wide set of headlamps wrapped around. The heavily sculpted bonnet and bumper will make it look young. The Hyundai Grand i10 like side profile carries simple shoulder line towards the rear. At the back, there is a roof spoiler, curvy tail gate and a brawny bumper.

The headlights and tail lights on the Tata Kite hatchback are protruding to give continuity to the shoulder line. The rear windscreen gets a circular pattern for the defogger, which is interesting to see. The Bolt still has some resemblance to the Indica but the Kite hatch will have a totally new design. Powering the Kite will be a new 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine expected to churn out 64 BHP and 140 Nm. The petrol version is likely to get a 1.2-litre unit. Launch is expected in mid-2015.
