The 2016 Toyota Fortuner is surely one of the most-awaited Toyotas of this year. The SUV has finally been launched in Australia at a starting price of AUD 47,990 which translates to Rs. 22.73 lakhs for the base model. On the looks front, the vehicle has surely evolved a lot and while the design is a love it or hate it one, you just cannot deny that the Fortuner looks more bigger and aggressive than before. The vehicle is also going to be offered with a lot of accessories that will increase the appeal of this Toyota while also making it look beefier.

The insides also see a massive revamp and the new interior layout looks much more better. The vehicle is loaded to the gills with features like automatic LED projector headlamps, tailgate with memory function (for opening height), 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, leather seat upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, 220V accessory socket, automatic AC and an infotainment system with satellite navigation, all these being offered in the top variant.

Under the hood, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is powered by a 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 174 HP of power and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission while a 6-speed manual gearbox is also offered in a slightly lower engine tune where the oil-burner produces 420 Nm of torque. The SUV will be offered in three trims – GX, GXL and Crusade. The top most variant costs AUD 59,990 (Rs. 28.41 lakhs) and AUD 61,990 (Rs. 29.36 lakhs) for the manual and automatic trims respectively.

On the accessories front, Toyota will be offering a redesigned bumper that will be useful for those who plan to do extensive off-roading with their vehicles. The off-road bumper is mounted higher than the regular bumper which reduces chances of scraping when negotiating steep inclines. A lot of different alloy wheels will also be offered as extra accessories with the Fortuner. The second generation Toyota Fortuner might not make it to the 2016 Auto Expo but when launched in India, it is likely to be a success given the amount of fan following the current model has.
