2018 Maruti Ciaz Facelift Unveiled In China, Spotted Again On Test

As more spy pictures from India surface, Suzuki has unveiled the Alivio Pro in China which is essentially the Ciaz facelift in their market.

Maruti might be testing the new CVT gearbox since the test mule looks identical to the current Ciaz

Maruti Ciaz, a mid-size sedan from the Japanese automaker, was recently shifted to NEXA outlets and has been performing well. In India, the Ciaz is almost 3 years old now and due for a mid-life facelift. For the Chinese audience, the Suzuki Alivio Pro was showcased at the Chengdu International Auto Show today. Meanwhile, in India, test mules of the 2018 Ciaz facelift continue to be spotted.

This time around, a Ciaz test mule has been captured by MotorBeam reader Divyansh Agnihotri on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. In the picture, the black test car looks identical to the current iteration of the Ciaz and is completely undisguised. While feature additions and minor interior design tweaks are expected in the facelifted Ciaz, it is highly unlikely that Maruti Suzuki will keep the exterior design unchanged.

The Chinese Ciaz facelift features a reworked tail lamp cluster and redesigned bumpers. While the fog lamp housings have received chrome treatment, the face looks similar to the S-Cross with the new front grille. The rear diffuser, finished in black, hides the bulk of the rear bumper very well. Maruti Suzuki could use design cues from the Chinese model for its upcoming Ciaz facelift in India.

There are no updates expected on the mechanical front and the facelift will continue to use the existing 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. The carmaker is expected to add rain sensing wipers and automatic LED headlamps. To keep it relevant in the market, a CVT gearbox is expected in place of the conventional torque converter unit. The Ciaz primarily competes with the likes of the Honda City and the newly-launched Hyundai Verna.
