It will also be rebadged and sold as a Toyota product

Maruti is expected to unveil the new-generation Vitara Brezza by the end of 2021. The sub-4-metre SUV will sport a new design, more features and might come with a better hybrid tech.

Ever since it was put on sale, the compact SUV has gone on to fetch huge numbers every month, for customers have found its tall-riding and upright stance, spacious interiors and practicality to their liking.

Even when it ditched its diesel mill and turned into a petrol-only model, the car has managed to stay at the top of its class, only facing pressure from the Hyundai Venue and of late, the Kia Sonet.

The model that replaces it will likely carry forward its predecessor’s strong points, while being more modern as it will be built on Maruti’s HEARTECT platform.

Design-wise, the 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza will, like the first-generation model, have a tall stance with rugged styling. It is said the car will have a bold radiator grille, a bluff nose and sharp-looking LED lights.

Since it will be based on Maruti’s new platform, the compact SUV is likely to come with a spacious interior, decent boot space and more kit like connected tech.

Safety is also expected to be improved upon. The current Vitara Brezza is not bad on that front, but there is room for improvement nonetheless and the car is expected to also feature advanced safety systems.

While the 1.5-litre petrol engine that does duty on the current model is likely to be retained, Maruti is expected to use a larger battery and a more powerful motor for its mild-hybrid tech, so as to make the car more efficient.

The 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza will also come with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Whether it will possess mild-hybrid tech is not known at the moment, but its arrival should help sales increase.

When it gets launched in 2022, the all-new compact SUV from Maruti will likely cost a bit more than the current model and take on rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, among others.

The compact SUV has been a great sales success
