2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Petrol Spied On Test In India

The SUV gets new lighting units and bumpers

A 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan has been spied on test in India sporting refreshed looks and a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine under the bonnet.

Revealed last year (read article here), the refreshed 5-seater premium SUV received a new set of LED headlights with LED DRLs, a revised radiator grille, while the bumper is new, as are the tail lights, rear bumper and alloys.

Although the changes are very little, they do lend the car a fresh look while also keeping the Tiguan’s familiar styling intact.

Inside, there is a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone charger, and Volkswagen will also offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a premium audio system, among various other features.

Otherwise, the car will be the same as before, offering space for 5 adults in the cabin, while the material quality and fit and finish of parts will be very good to say the least.

This time, the Tiguan will come with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol motor putting out 190 PS and 320 Nm, the same as on the Tiguan Allspace. This engine will be mated to a 7-speed DSG that will send the motor’s power to all 4 wheels.

To be assembled locally, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan spied on test recently, when launched, will cost less than the Allspace model, at around Rs. 30 lakhs (ex-showroom), and compete against the Hyundai Tucson, among others.

Expect the infotainment system to be updated and offer rich feedback
It will now become a petrol-only model
