Fourth-Gen Maruti Swift To Be Launched By 2023 In India

Suzuki will also put the next-generation Swift Sport on sale overseas in 2023

The next-generation Maruti Swift launch is set to take place in the summer of 2022 in Japan, followed by the Swift Sport’s introduction there the year after.

It is being developed on a revised version of the current generation model’s HEARTECT platform and will sport styling that would be an evolutionary update of the third-generation car’s design, as imagined in a previous render.

Maruti is expected to equip the 2022 Swift with new bumpers front (with a larger radiator grille) and rear, revised headlight and tail lamp clusters, new ORVMs, while the side profile is likely to see the addition of a pronounced shoulder line and new alloy wheels.

The cabin should also be markedly different, equipped with a larger touchscreen and a head-up display (at least in the Swift Sport), possibly new seats, and plentiful latest features including connected car tech.

Powering the car would be a 1.2-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid assistance, offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Thankfully, the Swift Sport, which will come with sporty styling on the outside (as shown in the render above) and model-specific trim and seats on the inside, will continue to be offered.

This model will come powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor with 48 V mild hybrid assistance and will be given a more sporty suspension setup and better braking hardware.

Maruti is expected to launch the next-generation Swift in India by 2023, while the Swift Sport is not expected to be offered here.
