Bajaj Auto appears to be preparing a new adventure-oriented motorcycle that will cater to both domestic and international markets. Recent test sightings have revealed a purpose-built machine featuring long-travel suspension, upright ergonomics and styling cues typically associated with dual-sport motorcycles.
According to sources familiar with the development, the project has been designed with a strong focus on Latin American markets, where lightweight adventure and dual-purpose motorcycles continue to enjoy significant demand. Models in the 150cc to 200cc segment are particularly popular in the region due to their versatility for both daily commuting and light off-road riding.
To address varying market requirements, Bajaj is expected to offer the motorcycle with different engine options globally. While international versions could feature engines ranging from around 160cc to 250cc, the India-spec model is likely to be powered by a 250cc unit.
Industry sources suggest the company may utilise its existing 249cc air/oil-cooled engine, currently found in the Pulsar N250. Adopting an established powertrain could help Bajaj maintain competitive pricing while benefiting from proven reliability and easier parts availability.
Spy photographs indicate that the upcoming motorcycle will feature a tall riding stance, increased ground clearance and suspension travel suited to rougher terrain. However, it may not be positioned as a hardcore off-road machine. Bajaj already has access to more specialised dual-sport products through its KTM partnership, including the KTM 390 Enduro R.
In the Indian market, the motorcycle is expected to compete in the growing entry-level adventure segment alongside models such as the Hero Xpulse 210 and Kawasaki KLX 230. Demand for affordable adventure motorcycles has increased in recent years as more riders seek machines capable of handling both city commutes and weekend touring duties.
While Bajaj has not officially confirmed launch details, the presence of test prototypes on public roads suggests development is at an advanced stage. The motorcycle is expected to debut in select international markets before arriving in India, potentially sometime next year.
