BMW Unveils New 4-Series Coupe

BMW has unveiled the 4-Series which was first showcased at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year. The BMW 4-Series is a coupe version of the regular 3-Series 5-door saloon and embodies the same interiors and front fascia as of the 3-Series. The 4-Series Coupe is diminutively longer by only 1-inch and to make the ride quality better, the wheelbase is two inches longer than the 3-Series. The presence of the model is unique with its sporty dynamics and aesthetics, the coupe is 1.7-inch broad and has 0.6-inch lower roofline than the 3-Series.

The front fascia looks the same as the 3-Series and it would be hard to differentiate both the classes. But once you pass the quarter half, you’ll notice the precisely drawn roofline that merges in the boot without any fidget and looks fantastic. The rear end of the car is exquisite with the stretched rear wing, new reshaped tail lights and the long boot lid. Inside the car features a 2+2 seat layout which is generally traditional with the coupe body style.

BMW has declared the variants and the price of the 4-Series for the US market. The base variant 428i will be powered by a 240 BHP, 2.0-litre, twin-turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine with a price tag of $41,425 (around Rs. 23,90,000/- in India). For the performance enthusiasts, the 435i will produce 300 BHP with its 3.0-litre, in-line 6, twin-turbo petrol motor priced at $46,925 (Rs. 27,05,000/-). Both variants will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 8-speed sport automatic transmission.

The customer can also opt between rear-wheel drivetrain or optional all-wheel drive, BMWs xDrive system. The coupe will be available in modern and sports trim and BMW also has plans to launch the M version on a later stage that will be loaded with aerodynamic wheels, tuned suspension and some more spinning power to evoke the senses. BMW announced the launch of the 4-Series coupe in the US market first, and will reach the company outlets in the US by the end of September this year. The new Bavarian coupe is expected to release its horses on Indian roads in the first quarter of 2014.
