The recently launched BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS have already got over 1000 bookings in India.

The BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS were launched in between much fanfare and excitement. BMW seems to have gotten the formula right as the bikes have already been booked by over 1000 customers.

According to BMW, 60-65% of the bookings have come for the more adventure focused G 310 GS model while the rest have been for the naked sport G 310 R. While the company was expecting a near 50-50 distribution, they are still very happy with the response.

The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are produced in TVS’ Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu. The TVS Apache RR 310 in fact uses the same engine found on the G 310 brothers but has a re-tuned version of it.

Both the BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS are powered by the same engine. This motor is a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve DOHC mill that produces 34 HP at 9500 RPM and 28.4 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission. This gives the G 310 R a top speed of 145 km/hr while the G 310 GS reaches a top speed of 143 km/hr.

Feature wise, the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS get ABS and a digital instrument cluster as standard. The G 310 GS, to have a better off-road ability has 180 mm of suspension travel at the front and the rear. It also gets a 19-inch front wheel whereas the G 310 R comes with a 17-inch front wheel. They both have a fuel tank capacity of 11-litres.

The bikes have gone on sale in India and can be booked for a token amount of Rs. 50,000/-. The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are priced at Rs. 2.99 lakhs and Rs. 3.49 lakhs respectively (both prices, ex-showroom).
