BMW plans to double MINI India sales with 10-model offensive in 2026
BMW Group India is preparing for an aggressive product push in 2026, with plans to launch 27 new vehicles across its portfolio, including 10 new models under the MINI marque. The strategy is aimed at significantly increasing MINI’s sales and reinforcing its role as a lifestyle-driven pillar within BMW’s India operations.
According to the company’s leadership, MINI is expected to be one of the strongest growth engines for BMW Group India in the coming year. The brand is being positioned as a lifestyle and emotional purchase rather than a conventional luxury commuter vehicle, helping it appeal to a broader audience than typical premium car brands.
In 2025, MINI recorded deliveries of 730 units in India, reflecting a modest 3% year-on-year growth. The line-up was expanded late in the year with models such as the MINI Convertible, the MINI Countryman JCW ALL4 and the MINI Countryman SE ALL4. Even with a relatively limited two-model presence for most of the year, the brand continued to attract demand, prompting BMW Group India to prepare for a more aggressive rollout in 2026.
The company highlights that MINI’s customer base differs from mainstream luxury car buyers. While BMW vehicles often attract customers from professional segments like real estate, medicine or law, MINI draws enthusiasts across age groups and profiles. Purchases are often described internally as “occasion-led” – linked to personal milestones such as birthdays, graduations or celebratory events – and are sometimes chosen in place of traditional luxury gifts or accessories.
MINI also sees a comparatively higher share of women buyers than many other premium automotive brands, reinforcing its positioning as a lifestyle-oriented product with emotional and stylistic appeal rather than purely functional value.
With 10 new MINI models planned for 2026, BMW Group India expects the brand to broaden its footprint and accelerate sales volumes, with an internal goal to double MINI’s unit sales over the coming year.
