BYD e6 Electric MPV Spotted In India

The EV will not look out of place among the current crop of MPVs

The e6 electric MPV from Chinese brand BYD has been spotted in Chennai recently. Now in its second generation, the e6 does not look unlike a regular MPV that people are used to seeing on Indian roads.

There are hints of the Toyota Innova Crysta in the styling of the EV that has projector headlights, LED rear combination lamps, and alloy wheels that look a tiny bit smaller for the size of the vehicle.

Inside, the BYD e6 comes with electrically adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can be rotated 90-degrees, an electronic parking brake, among other features. The cargo volume is capacious at 580 litres.

Equipped with a 41 kWh battery pack, the electric MPV has an electric motor which is claimed to put out 136 HP. The EV can travel up to 522 km on a single charge.

With the help of a 40 kW AC onboard charger (the EV also has DC charging capability), the car’s battery pack can be fully recharged in 90 minutes.

Safety-wise, the BYD e6 comes equipped with 4 airbags, ABS, traction control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

If the MPV gets launched in India this year, it will be brought in as a CBU and could be priced around Rs. 20-25 lakhs and will be among 3 EVs that BYD is likely to introduce in the market.

The EV’s interior is rather plain
It should seat 5 people comfortably
The car has over 500 km range (claimed) on a single charge
