Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV Caught On Test Ahead Of Launch

The Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV has been caught testing. It will be launched in India in August this year via the CKD route.

GM has confirmed the Trailblazer SUV will be launched in India this year

The India bound Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV has been sighted by an Autocar reader while undergoing road-tests. The Chevrolet Trailblazer is a full-size SUV that will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner which is the segment leader, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Last month, General Motors India had announced that they will be launching the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV in 2015 and the Chevrolet Spin MUV in 2016. This car has a massive road presence and is likely to be able to seat seven people more comfortably than any of its rivals due to its sheer size.

The Trailblazer is a premium SUV offered in two engine tunes internationally, namely, a 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine which puts out a maximum power of 180 BHP and a 2.5-litre Duramax diesel engine giving a maximum 150 BHP of power. However, it has not been confirmed that what engines will be offered here in India. The engine makes use of geometry turbo, balancer shaft for smooth running and other smart features like a laminated steel oil pan with an upper aluminium section. The car rides on a ladder-on-frame chassis.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is a very capable off-roader having strong acceleration and can reach a top speed of 170 km/hr. This car is the first proper SUV that will be offered in India by Chevrolet taking into consideration that the Captiva never got the sales chart running for them. It is still unclear whether the Trailblazer and the Captiva will be sold alongside each other or not. In order to keep prices competitive, the Chevrolet Trailblazer will be brought to India via the CKD route.
