DC Avanti Bookings Open, Priced At Rs. 35 Lakhs

DC will commence deliveries of the Avanti sports car in the first quarter of 2015 and has started accepting bookings at a token amount of Rs. 5 lakhs.

DC aims to sell at least 100 units of the Avanti per month post launch

Titled as India’s first home grown sports car, DC has finally started accepting bookings for the Avanti at a booking amount of Rs. 5 lakhs, while the car has been reportedly priced at Rs. 35 lakhs (ex-factory) in the country. With the official launch date still not announced, the Pune based customiser and manufacturer will commence deliveries of the sports car during the first quarter of 2015. The Avanti’s launch comes after much hiatus since the production version was showcased at the Auto Expo in February and the car was originally scheduled for launch during this calendar year.

The DC Avanti will be produced at the company’s Talegaon facility in Maharashtra that is expected to churn out 2000 units of the sports car per year. The automaker is eyeing a sales of at least 100 units per month and will target buyers in the premium compact luxury vehicle segment as well as the entry-level luxury sedan space. The two-seater sports car uses a carbon-fibre body shell with a lightweight space frame chassis and weighs a decent 1562 kgs. In terms of design, the sports car is bit of mix and match taking inspiration from supercars, while on the inside, DC will be offering a range of customisation options to its customers.

The DC Avanti is powered by a Ford sourced 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged with direct injection petrol EcoBoost engine that produces 250 BHP of power at 5500 RPM and 366 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM with power being sent to the rear wheels via the 6-speed manual transmission. The home grown sports car does 0-100 km/hr in under 7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr. The Avanti rides on 20-inch alloy wheels that get 330 mm ventilated discs on all four tyres and ABS with airbags as standard. Despite being a sports car, the Avanti comes with a ground clearance of 170 mm, which will make it relatively easier to manoeuvre on our pothole ridden roads.
