Facelifted Tata Nano Petrol Test Mule Spotted

Tata Motors have seen dwindling sales when it comes to their world’s cheapest car offering, the Tata Nano. It has been trying everything in its capability to revive the sales of the Tata Nano including the launch of CNG-petrol binary fuel version and the revised 2013 version of the car. Team-BHP has spotted a test mule of the facelifted Nano doing rounds around the city of Pune. It can be noted from the pictures that the front and the rear bumpers are expected to have received a cosmetic change. The design of the rear windscreen too is updated.

The styling cues from the test mule appears to be inspired by the diesel version of the Tata Nano which is due for launch in March 2014 as previously hinted by the company. A host of features are known to be incorporated into the facelifted Nano taking into account customer feedback. The Nano petrol and diesel facelift cars will receive several feature updates such as an open-able rear hatch lid, a new exhaust system and completely refurbished front and rear bumpers. Tata has also been contemplating on incorporating a power steering unit although it is unconfirmed yet.

Tata Motors is believed to use a turbocharged diesel engine by Garett for its diesel powered Nano. A mileage figure of nearly 35 km/l is expected from the 800cc diesel engine speculated to power the Nano. This mileage factor alone could be one of the key factors which will help Tata revive its sales volumes. Tata is expected to display the diesel Nano at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. A Nano with a bigger engine is also under works at Tata Motors’ Engineering Research Centre (ERC) at Pimpri, off Pune. This car will hit the testing circuit in the coming months.
