Fuel Prices Rise Again: Petrol & Diesel Costlier by Over ₹2/Litre Across India

Maruti Celerio Long Term Fuel Efficiency

Petrol and diesel prices in India have gone up once again today, marking the fourth fuel price hike in less than two weeks. Petrol prices have increased by ₹2.61 per litre, while diesel is now costlier by ₹2.71 per litre.

After the latest revision, petrol in Mumbai now costs around ₹111.21/litre, while diesel stands at ₹97.83/litre. In Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹102.12/litre and diesel at ₹95.20/litre.

In total, fuel prices have risen by nearly ₹7.5 per litre since May 15. Rising global crude oil prices and tensions in West Asia are being seen as the main reasons behind the increase.

While the hike may look small on paper, its impact is felt everywhere from daily commutes and cab fares to grocery and delivery costs. Diesel price hikes are especially important because they directly affect transportation and logistics, eventually making everyday goods more expensive too.

At a time when inflation is already affecting household budgets, another fuel price hike is the last thing consumers wanted.
