Hero To Focus On e-Scooters, Ties Up With Bosch

Hero Electric wants a slice of the scooter market and intends to bring in e-Scooters to fight against petrol fueled scooters.

Hero Electric recently launched the Flash

Hero Electric recently launched the e-Scooter Flash and is all set to bring in at least two new products on a yearly basis and has had a tie-up with German auto major Bosch for partnering in powertrain development which shall offer better technology and higher speed in its products.

The Government of India had announced the FAME 2 (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles) initiative, where manufacturers producing electric vehicles are offered sops and subsidies. Hero shall not just benefit from this scheme but shall be a witness to the growing e-Scooters market as India’s e two-wheeler market is all set to grow from 24,000 units to 45,000 units this year.

Hero also offers lithium-ion batteries in its scooters, though the Flash was powered by a lead acid battery. Hero says it shall give the option of choosing between a lead acid and a lithium-ion battery among its other products. The ones powered by the lithium-ion battery shall be the higher end ones offering rapid changeability and incredible performance.

The upcoming e-Scooters shall retail at around Rs. 90,000/- which is quite reasonable as these scooters are not associated with any kind of maintenance costs or fuel costs. Hero Electric currently offers e-Cycles and e-Scooters and even e-Rickshaws!
