The entire range of Hero products is available on Snapdeal

Online shopping is the newest trend in India. While clothes, electronics and miscellaneous items are being bought online on a daily basis, buying vehicles online is still something new that has been happening here. Hero MotoCorp has been facing a slightly bad time when it comes to overall sales, but yet the company has managed to sell over 1 lakh units of its two-wheelers in India through Snapdeal which is a leading online shopping portal. Each bike, priced at an average of Rs. 50,000/- translates to a total amount of Rs. 500 crore which is a great feat by Hero.

Lots of people are generally averse to the idea of buying vehicles online without actually touching and feeling the product. But Snapdeal allows buyers to select from the entire range of products from Hero MotoCorp including every variant and colour and that’s how it managed to strike a chord with buyers. Buyers also get free insurance when they book their two-wheelers online. Amazed by this success, Hero MotoCorp is now looking to set up their own online retail portal and a virtual showroom which should go live soon. Snapdeal and Hero signed their tie-up in December 2014 so a total online sales of 1 lakh units in six months is quite a good achievement.

Online shopping has come a long way in India. Earlier, buyers were hesitant to buy products online thinking they would get cheated. Now, with several payment options available and also safe transactions taking place, buyers have become more open to this trend. Online shopping also comes with great convenience of sitting at home and browsing products at your own pace. Snapdeal also sells scooters from Mahindra, Piaggio and Hero Electric and also the Mahindra Scorpio SUV.

The Mahindra Scorpio too is sold on the online portal
