Hero MotoCorp To Launch 3 New Products In 2013

Hero MotoCorp is India’s largest two-wheeler maker at present. The manufacturer has started feeling the heat from the competition, which is growing aggressively. Hero MotoCorp is losing its market share to Honda, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor. Also, Hero MotoCorp has not launched a single product since August last year, hence the fall in sales and profit margins. This year, the manufacturer is expected to launch two new motorcycles in the category of 100cc to 125cc and a new automatic scooter as well.

HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India), the erstwhile partner of Hero MotoCorp is on a spree to introduce new products frequently. Honda had introduced HET technology with its automatic scooters lineup at the very beginning of the year, followed by the introduction of the Honda CB Trigger later and the budget motorcycle, Honda Dream Neo, pitched up against the high selling Hero Splendor. Bajaj Auto is also playing aggressively in the market and is planning to launch several products this year including, two versions of the pulsar and six variants of the Discover family.

Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch the three new products around the festive season or later this year. It remains to be seen whether the manufacturer develops these products by their new technological associations like Erik Buell Racing, Ricardo and AVL. We can also expect the new two-wheelers to be based on the existing platforms. The manufacturer can expect the new commuter bikes to lift their fortunes with the addition of a new automatic scooter in their lineup.
