Hero Xtreme 200S Launch This Month [Rumour]

Almost 18 months post its official unveil, Hero MotoCorp is set to launch Xtreme 200S this month.

The Xtreme 200S was showcased in February last year at the 2016 Auto Expo

The Xtreme 200S is among the launches planned by Hero MotoCorp for the Indian market. Based on the 149cc Hero Xtreme which was discontinued earlier this year, the Xtreme 200S brings more power to the table. It was showcased at the Auto Expo in Greater Noida back in 2016. Rumours have it that the Hero Xtreme 200S launch date in India has been scheduled for this month.

Hero MotoCorp has recorded good growth in the domestic market but its lineup largely comprises of commuter oriented products. To expand its portfolio and market, the company is planning to enter the premium motorcycle segment with a bunch of new products. The upcoming Xtreme 200S carries the standard street-fighter look and comes with DRLs and tank extensions. Also, the new motorcycle is believed to get a different name since the Xtreme name plate wasn’t exactly successful in our market.

Powering the Hero Xtreme 200S is a 200cc air-cooled engine that puts out 18.34 HP of power and 17.2 Nm of torque. The carburetted motor comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox. While braking is aided by disc brakes at either end, the likely flagship Hero motorcycle employs a monoshock suspension at the rear (the only bike in Hero’s portfolio to have it, the Impulse was the other but was discontinued).

Hero MotoCorp is also expected to offer ABS as an option. While the company had created huge hype for the Xtreme 200S in the early days, it doesn’t stand out from the crowd now. Surely, it would be the pricing that will decide its fate. The Xtreme 200S, expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 90,000 – 1 lakh, will go against the likes of the Pulsar NS 200 and TVS Apache RTR 200.
