Honda could finally be preparing to bring the ADV160 maxi-scooter to India. The adventure-style scooter has now been patented in the country, hinting at Honda’s interest in entering the growing premium scooter segment. Interestingly, the patent was officially registered on 28th November 2025, although Honda has still not confirmed any launch timeline.

The Honda ADV160 stands out because it combines the practicality of a scooter with the rugged styling of an adventure motorcycle. It gets a tall windscreen, aggressive LED headlamp setup, muscular bodywork and a chunky overall stance that makes it look very different from conventional scooters sold in India today.

Honda has been selling the ADV750 for quite some time now. While the popularity for maxi-scooters that are capable to do a lot more than what the spec-sheet says is getting more attention. If Honda brings the ADV 160 to India, the newest competition of 150-160cc scooter will have yet another Japanese rival.

Internationally, the ADV160 is powered by a 157cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing around 16 HP and 14.7 Nm. If launched in India, it is expected to rival scooters like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and latest Hero Xoom 160. The scooter rides on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels and is designed more for comfortable urban touring rather than serious off-roading.

In terms of features, the ADV160 comes equipped with LED lighting, a fully digital instrument console, keyless ignition, USB charging and ample under-seat storage. Its upright riding posture and larger proportions could make it appealing for riders looking for something more premium and versatile than a regular commuter scooter.

While patents do not guarantee a launch, Honda’s recent focus on premium scooters and motorcycles suggests the ADV160 could have a good chance of making it to India. If it arrives here with competitive pricing, it could create a unique space for itself in the premium maxi-scooter category.
