Honda CBR600RR To Make A Comeback In 2021

The old CBR600RR had a cult following due to its raw, track-oriented nature

The Honda CBR600RR is rumoured to make a comeback in 2021 and the supersport machine will get several changes.

For starters, Honda CBR600RR was in production from 2003 to 2016 and was dropped when the Euro 4 emissions legislation came into effect in Europe.

The bike was so successful that it dominated the Supersport World Championship for several seasons. Although the CBR650R took over its mantle, it was not seen as the successor to the raw track-oriented road bike.

Now though, Honda is said to be working on a new CBR600RR that will follow the styling of the CBR1000RR-R. Also, like the design, the new middle-weight could also get an additional R in its name to be called the CBR600RR-R.

The old bike had a 599cc, 4-cylinder engine that put out 118 HP, 66 Nm and weighed 196 kg (wet) with an 18.1 litre fuel tank. The new Honda CBR600RR could get more power, close to 130 HP and more torque.

Also expected are updated electronics, top notch suspension possibly electronic units, apart from the above mentioned design change that could also see the addition of wings on the fairing.

It is to be see whether the bike will maintain the old model’s under-seat exhaust or if Honda will change that to keep the weight low down.

The old CBR600RR is still on sale in North America for $11,799 (Rs. 8.8 lakhs), so the new bike may cost a touch more when it is launched next year.
