Honda CBR650R Launched, Priced At Rs. 7.70 Lakhs

The Honda CBR650R derives its styling cues from its elder sibling the CBR1000RR.

The CBR650R is powered by a 649cc, 4-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve engine

Honda has launched its middleweight sports bike, the CBR650R in India. The Honda CBR650R was first showcased at EICMA 2018. It replaces the Honda CBR650F in India. The 2019 Honda CBR650R price is Rs. 7.70 lakhs (ex-showroom, pan India) and is available in two colours – Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. The motorcycle is now available for booking across the 22 Honda Wing World dealerships and one Honda BigWing dealership.

The new Honda CBR650R is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder, DOHC 16-valve engine which is said to deliver highly tuned performance. The engine makes 87.16 BHP at 11,500 RPM and 60.1 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Braking is taken care of by dual radial-mounted callipers with 310 mm discs and a single-piston rear calliper with a 240 mm disc rotor. Dual-channel ABS is a standard offering on the motorcycle. The motorcycle also gets 41 mm adjustable Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF) USD forks on the front and a pro-link monoshock at the rear.

The chassis of the Honda CBR650R is 6 kgs lighter than its predecessor. This gives the motorcycle more agility when steering from side-to-side. Honda has also included an Assist/Slipper Clutch for smooth downshifts while the addition of the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) helps maintain the rear wheel traction. The HSTC can be switched on or off according to the needs of the rider.

The 2019 Honda CBR650R features new styling and aggressive lines and extended side fairings. The rear section is also designed to be shorter. The headlights look similar to its elder sibling the CBR1000RR, and with the dual headlamp setup, the motorcycle also gets full LED lighting. It also gets an LCD instrument cluster display which also gets a Gear Position indicator and a Shift Up indicator. Not only this, the exhaust has now been redesigned and the downpipes sweep together around the front of the engine which meets the specially designed muffler.
