Honda Grace (City) Sport Hybrid Revealed For Japan

The Japan spec Honda City gets a hybrid motor coupled with a dual-clutch transmission with power being sent to all four wheels. It is called the Grace in Honda’s home market.

Powering the Grace Hybrid will most likely be the 1.5-litre motor from the Vezel

Honda is all set to launch the new generation Grace (City in India) sedan in its home market Japan with the launch scheduled for 1st December this year. Compared to the Indian model, the Japan specific Honda City gets a number of changes including the Grace nameplate and will be launched sporting a hybrid engine under the hood. Christened as the Honda Grace Sport Hybrid, the sedan gets minor tweaks to the exterior sporting an additional chrome strip on the grille and tweaked front bumper for improved aerodynamics.

While the side profile is largely the same, the new Honda Grace Sport Hybrid gets futuristic 5-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels (15-inch on certain variants) that distinguish the model from its conventionally powered counterparts. At the rear, the Grace sedan gets LED tail lights with clear lens clusters, while the headlight also gets LEDs, except for the base variant in particular. Moving to the interiors, the cabin is identical to that of the India spec City but comes with blue illumination on the instrument cluster which also houses the battery information, while the gear shift knob has been replaced by a smaller and smarter gear selector.

While Honda has not revealed the specifications under the hood, the 1.5-litre hybrid engine from the Vezel is expected to perform duty with 132 PS of power on offer. The engine will be paired to the i-DCD (dual-clutch) transmission with power being sent to all four wheels via a Four-Wheel drive system. In addition, the City hybrid will come feature loaded with safety aids and creature comforts including heated seats, Vehicle Stability Control, city braking system, side and curtain airbags along with the usual bells and whistles.
